Rabbi Karen Becker-Marcelo, recently oversaw the training of an octogenarian-an adult Bat Mitzvah student. The studies culminated with a beautiful adult bat mitzvah ceremony celebrating an 80 year old bat mitzvah “girl” with over 55 people in attendance. Rabbi Karen enjoys working with seniors and serves as head Rabbi at THE ATRIUM -a senior lifestyle community located in Boca Raton, Florida — She reports that “Working with people in a senior living community is a blessing and a delight. They bring wisdom, experience and light to everything we do”.
Rabbi Karen was ordained by thewww,jsli.net [ Jewish Spiritual Leadership Institute __title__ ] (“JSLI”) in 2017 and is a member of Union of Jewish Universalist Communities (“UJUC”).
In the year since her ordination, Rabbi Karen has quickly become an integral leader in the Palm Beach/Boca Raton Jewish and Interfaith communities. In addition to B’nai Mitzvot, Rabbi Karen has also performed other innovative life cycle events including an on-line baby naming. She can also be seen leading Ma’ariv services for the on-line synagogue Sim Shalom. Rabbi Karen will soon be serving her community as a volunteer chaplain for the Palm Beach Sherriff’s Department.
